We had planned the route carefully to avoid the busy North Georgia roads. By and large we did pretty well. For the most part we were on quiet back roads, with just a few stretches on the main drags.
The Georgia countryside is very pretty, reminding me at times of upstate New York: green, with rolling hills. Emphasis on hills!

Approaching Atlanta, we rode along Buford Dam Road along the edge of Lake Lanier. The lake is very pretty and the road even features a bike lane, which was a welcome treat.
Today's stats: 74 miles, 4047 feet of climbing. So far we've ridden 334 miles, just about 10% of the total trip.
